Important data to be recorded during installation of piling

Recording of data is of utmost importance during installation of piles as in case of any other foundation structure; since most of these details would not be available once the installation is completed. All the following data are to be captured suitably, and recorded in appropriate tables / formats.

1) Rig movement diagram.

2) Sequence of installation of piles.

3) Information about the piles.

  1. Type of pile (working/test)
  2. Pile number
  3. Pile group number
  4. Grid location
  5. Pile diameter
  6. Diameter of cutting tool used.
  7. Specific gravity of bentonite slurry, with time of checking.
  8. Local ground level / Casing top level
  9. Length of permanent casing (liner) used.
  10. Date and time of starting boring
  11. Rate of penetration per meter
  12. Depth and reference number of sample taken intermittently during the boring activity.
  13. Date and time of completing boring
  14. Time of conducting penetration test & ‘N’ value recorded
  15. Pile bottom level
  16. Depth of pile as recorded by sounding
  17. Date and time of lowering reinforcement
  18. Top level of reinforcement cage
  19. Details of reinforcements
  20. Measurement of reinforcement
  21. Flushing start time
  22. Flushing finish time
  23. Concrete mix proportion & design strength
  24. Concrete slump
  25. Date and time of starting concreting
  26. Date and time of finishing concreting
  27. Pile top level
  28. Cut off level
  29. Total number of cubes taken
  30. Identification number of cubes taken
  31. Theoretical quantity of concrete required.
  32. Actual quantity of concrete used
4) Cube test reports – 7th & 28th days.
